Let’s face it: almost no one gets genuinely excited about scheduling a medical appointment. Between the classic “paper gown anxiety,” juggling a packed schedule, and the sheer dread of feeling judged or lectured, it’s tempting to just tell yourself, “I’ll deal with it later if things get worse.”
But taking care of your body shouldn’t feel like such a hassle, and it shouldn’t be limited to when you’re feeling sick. A women’s health exam is simply about staying in the driver’s seat of your own wellness.
At North Metro Women’s Care—a fully AAAHC-accredited medical center based in Cartersville—we’ve completely reimagined what a clinical visit feels like.
Our appointments are designed to be entirely supportive, collaborative, and 100% judgment-free. Below, our licensed medical team pulls back the curtain so you know exactly what to expect when you walk through our doors.
What’s a free women’s health exam and who needs one?
A women’s health exam, also called a women’s health assessment, is a confidential medical evaluation focused on verifying potential pregnancies, screening and counseling for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), overall preventive care, education and information around mental wellness and contraception methods, and evaluating physical symptoms like irregular cycles or pelvic pain.
This type of appointment is ideal for any woman who is noticing unexpected changes in her body, thinks she might be pregnant, or has concerns about recent STI exposure1. Rather than navigating these highly personal issues alone or attempting to self-diagnose via internet searches and online forums, a women’s health exam pairs you one-on-one with a licensed medical professional to establish exactly what is happening with your health.
What should I expect during a women's health assessment at North Metro Women’s Care?
During a free women’s health assessment, you can expect a private, nurse-led consultation centered on your specific needs. This may consist of lab-quality pregnancy testing, limited ultrasound, a confidential STI screening, pap smear, preventive health screenings, and a detailed discussion about your individual symptoms and choices—all at no cost to you.
We operate with a strict policy of “zero surprises.” You’re treated as an active partner in your own care, meaning nothing happens during your appointment without your consent and understanding. Depending on your concerns, your visit will typically combine objective medical diagnostics2 with evidence-based education. We want you to fully understand your body’s current health status so you can walk away feeling informed and confident.
Why do I need an ultrasound if my home pregnancy test was positive?
You need a limited medical ultrasound to legally and medically confirm exactly how far along you are in your pregnancy, verify that the pregnancy is viable (a heartbeat can be found), and mathematically rule out an ectopic pregnancy.
Even if a home test shows a positive line, a urine test cannot determine if a pregnancy is safely developing inside the uterus. An ultrasound is a fundamental diagnostic safety check. Our licensed medical staff performs these limited scans in a completely private, quiet setting during a free women’s health exam to give you the verified data you need.
Are women’s health assessments completely private and confidential?
Yes, all medical services and consultations, including women’s health exams at North Metro Women’s Care, are 100% confidential and fully protected by federal healthcare privacy laws, meaning your patient data, test results, and personal choices cannot be shared with anyone without your written permission.
Fear of a lack of privacy3—or worrying that parents, partners, or schools might find out—and negative past experiences are a few of the top reasons young women delay seeking care. Because we are an independent, community-supported clinic, we provide a secure sanctuary where you can safely speak with absolute honesty, ask sensitive questions, and receive objective medical facts without any judgement. We’re here for you.
